Technical Controller Resources

This page brings together key resources to support Technical Controllers with ongoing education, revision, and competition preparation.

Technical Controllers are encouraged to use these resources regularly to keep their knowledge up to date and to prepare for upcoming competitions.

Key Documents

These documents should be used as the main reference points for Technical Controllers in New Zealand competitions.

  • World Aquatics Artistic Swimming Manual
While typically being considered a main resource for Judges, this manual has useful infor for TCs too. It contains a breakdown of the DTC and STC roles, important info about ethics, and detailed descriptions of Technical Required Elements.
  • World Aquatics Competition Regulations
Being familiar with the World Aquatics rules is important as a TC, particularly the penalties which apply to routines (page 308-318), Technical Required Elements (page 355-368) and required routine elements (page 369-374)
  • ASNZ Rules and Documents Page
Includes the current ASNZ Competition Rules, competition policies, required routine elements, and other important New Zealand-specific documents.
Education Session Recordings

Past ASNZ education session recordings are available to support TC revision and development. These recordings may be useful for new TCs, returning TCs, and experienced officials wanting to refresh their knowledge before a competition.

A link to the full recordings folder is provided here, but TCs may find the following sessions particularly useful:

Online Flashcards

ASNZ has created free-to-use online flashcard sets to support TCs revising the hybrid codes. This is an easy and fun way to revise the hybrid codes to help you memorise them for easier TCing.

Access the folder here. Quizlet may prompt you to sign up for a paid membership, but you'll still be able to access them on a free login!

USAAS Academy Online Modules

The USA Artistic Swimming Academy is an online learning platform offering a range of Judge, Coach, and TC modules. Some are free, and some you have to pay for.

TC Quick Reference Documents

Handy quick-reference versions of the most important info from the hybrid and acrobatic guides to use while officiating. These can be found in the 'downloads' section on the right hand side/bottom of this page.
